Sooo is west coast rap dying?! Noo, a long way from it!! Black Hippy are the saviors, the four man super team coming straight outta the gangland sunny State of South Central, California.
Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul are being labeled as the new N.W.A with each of them bringing their unique rhyme style to the table. Before they come together and release a group album they have stated to individually release material on a solo tip, this will build a baseline of fans for each one of them as a lone artist! Currently all the artist are signed to Top Dawg Entertainment but earlier this year their label signed to Aftermath Records as well as Interscope Records in a joint venture deal.
Kendrick at the front of the limelight exploded with his true talent to lyrical rap, following not to short behind are Jay Rock, Ab-soul & Schoolboy Q! Being a fan from a long time personally I see Ab-soul as Top Dawg’s secret weapon showing his various styles, dope’d out concepts and truly that original west coast rap!
Ab, Jay, Kendrick and Schoolboy Q have all released albums this year solo hopefully in the future we will be hearing some collaborated tracks between the artists!
