Who can we trust?

In a world full of lies and deceit, the big question to ask is who can we trust? We know for a fact that we can’t trust bankers especially since it has come to light that the big shots working for Barclays have been manipulating international loan interest rates and the suited and booted bankers over at HSBC have been laundering billions of dollars for drug cartels and terrorists. So if we can’t trust the banks, which have all our money, who can we trust?
Well we can clearly trust BBC’S Rogue Traders. The Rogue traders travel around England and expose dodgy contractors and workmen so they are the people to trust right? Wrong. The Rogue Traders star Dan Penteado was jailed yesterday for benefits fraud worth £24,000, oh the irony! The £56,000 he earns, from working on the BBC show, isn’t enough for Mr Penteado as he still felt it was necessary to claim council tax and housing benefits. The Bournemouth Magistrates have now jailed him for 12 weeks. Poor guy having to live off just £56,000, life must have been hard for him…
So we can’t trust bankers, which we already knew, and we can’t trust BBC’S Rogue traders, which we now know so back to the big question…who can we trust? What about politicians? Politicians represent the people’s voice so we should be able to trust them however it seems that politicians are now known for being glorified liars.
Let’s consider David Cameron and the NHS. In January 2010 he said “We will increase the number of mid-wives by 3000” but in reality the government has cut the number of training positions available for both mid-wives and nurses. The list of lies told by politicians is endless so I think it’s safe to say that it’s probably not a good idea to trust politicians whole-heartedly.
What about the monarchy? Can we trust the Queen? The Queen has stuck by her people for 60 years now. Through all the good times and bad she has been there and the people have loved her support so I feel that the queen is one person, we as a country, can trust.
So now we get to the big question, who can you personally trust? Well family and friends is always a good place to start. People who you feel are looking out for you are probably doing just that so it’s perhaps a good idea to have some trust and faith in your nearest and dearest. But remember when it comes down to truly trusting someone and having to rely on someone it’s probably best to trust yourself and only yourself (and maybe your mum).
Having to rely on someone is not the best feeling and there is a very big chance that they will let you down so the best thing to do is to trust your own instincts and believe in yourself. By having faith in yourself you will be able to make the best decisions and do things your way and this way you will be able to learn from any mistakes you make along the way!
