DuttyLex got Da Bits you want

RnB/Hip Hop | Wednesday 11th July 2012 | Osh

If a white dude hands out his own rap mixtape on the street, the first reaction is the same as if you were told about Iranian caviar. A doubtfull squint. But then you go to Iran and taste the caviar you were told about. Or you listen to the new Da Bits mixtape that Alex aka DuttyLex handed me out.

Great quality.

Obviously the mixtape has the underground heavy bass and explicit lyrics. Be like us or also Wake up illustrate the underground influence that is expected in the mixtape. But eclecticism is the master word to describe Da Bits.

Da Bits delivers some electro-ish sound in The city for instance; the dancehall queens could also enjoy Never heard of dem or Concrete Jungle. DuttyLex, also executive producer, found inspiration on a wide range of great music. Where its hard to move uses a sample from the old school masterpiece Hey Lover from BoysIIMen and LL Cool J. They will spreads a vibe similar as in No Diggity by the Blackstreet, Queen Pen and Dr Dre. And oh boy, I still try to find out where the sample of the Cash I Breathe (my personal DaBits-song-crush) comes from.

Mister DuttyLex-Lexus-Dutty produces as well as he raps. His voice sizzle-crackle-frizzles! He has a little bit of smoothness too that is best heard on his former sounds. He definitely is a UK rapper; the way they chop of their words is so…UK-like!

After listening to the Dabits mixtape, the doubtful squint has been erased by half-smile and a bunch of nods in rhythm. Next time I’ll buy his mixtape not only because DuttyLex is kind of cute but because I know DuttyLex has Da Bits I want.
