Día de la Música (Day of the Music) Madrid 2012
Indie |
Monday 9th July 2012 | Osh
On the 21st to the 24th of June, Madrid hosted a new edition of the Day of the Music. Displayed at the venue Matadero, the event saw around ten thousand people enjoying the festival as the magnificent sunny weather welcomed a huge selection of artists to party to.
This year had a wide representation of some of the best British bands in the Indie and Pop rock genre’s. Heavyweights such as the Enfield born singer James Blake who delighted the Spanish public with his deep soul voice performing his new single Enough Thunder. He, his voice, and his piano set the mood of amazement amongst the massive crowd. Also the North Irish crew Two Door Cinema Club performed. Sam Halliday and his mates played songs from their new album Beacon without forgetting their hit What you know, one of the top moments of the festival. Another touch of British sound came from the Newcastle band Maxïmo Park. They performed tracks from their new album, The National Health, which contains a great surprise in the song called Hips and Lips.
The festival also included massive names in the Spanish Indie scene as well as some international contributions; especially from the other side of the pond. The most important ones were the American Spoon (picture above) and Mercury Rev. The Austin born Spoon offered one of the best gigs at the event; their hit The Underdog, was yet another mind blowing moment from the weekend.
The Day of the Music is looking forward for the 2013 edition. With no doubt a great excuse to hang out in Madrid! Keep up to date and don’t miss anything by visiting www.diadelamusica.com and bisesyaplausos.com
