Ahead of his new upcoming album and the release of his track ‘What a Feeling’ with Kelly Rowland, we caught up with Alex Gaudino to find out what to expect from the new album, and who he would take with him to a desert island...
Hi Alex how are you?
Hi I’m good thank you how are you?
Me: I’m very well it’s beautiful weather in London, whereabouts are you at the moment?
I’m in Milan right now.
Oh wow, lucky you. When you released the hugely popular ‘Destination Calabria’ in 2007, did you know it was going to be as successful as it was?
I hoped so! I’m not a magician you know, I couldn’t predict. But I hoped so and I thought it was gonna be great, but not as great as it turned out to be.
Yes the response was amazing. Can you tell me a bit about Little Love and how you got involved with that?
Little Love, ok we’re going back into the past a little bit...I mean it was a nice record, we used the voice of Lisa Stansfield which we then worked around.
And of course you have recently recorded a track with Kelly Rowland, what was it to work with her?
It was great, because she she’s a great person and obviously she’s a great singer and very easy to work with.
Well the track is another big hit, do you think you would work with Kelly again?
I hope so! Yeah, we are thinking about doing something else together.
So you must have had fun making the track with her?
Yeah I did, definitely.
Can you tell us a bit about you upcoming album?
Well we’re just finalising some of the songs at the moment so it should be ready soon, in order to release it for summer. It’s a mix between club tracks and vocals, because you know I’m a DJ so that’s the kind of mixture I am for.
Yes of course, and can we expect the same kind of thing we’ve heard from you in the past or will there be anything new on the album?
Definitely something new!
I’m excited to hear it! Who else have you collaborated with on the album?
We have some other big names as well as Kelly, but I want to keep it confidential for now so I can’t tell you anything else.
Ok, well do you have a favourite track on the album or a track you enjoyed making the most?
No, because they’re all like my kids, so I can’t say that I like one more than the other! If I made the track, then I like it!
Fair enough, so you see your songs like your children, something you put a lot of time and energy into?
Exactly, exactly.
What are you plans for the summer, have you got any big festivals or gigs coming up?
Yes I am doing some festivals all over Europe, staying around the Mediterranean area for summer, on the beach...
What’s your favourite festival that you’ve ever played at?
I can’t say, there have been so many and I always enjoy them.
Do you have a favourite country that you like to play to?
Of course, my favourite country is the UK!
Woo! You’re in Milan at the moment, are you playing gigs over there or are you recording?
No, I’m in my studio right now.
What is the craziest party you’ve ever played at?
Erm, I don’t know, every party’s a crazy party!
I guess if you can’t remember it must mean it was pretty crazy...

Ok a slightly different question now, if you were exiled to an island in the middle of nowhere, which 3 famous people would you take with you?
Ah that would be 3 girls, definitely. What can I say...
3 beautiful girls?
Definitely yes. I mean, I can’t say too much, but if you’re on an island, you’re alone so you don’t wanna talk...you either just want to get safely back home but if you can’t...you might as well just have a good time!
Absolutely. So if you were invisible for the day then, what would you get up to?
Wow. If I was invisible, do you know what I would like to do? Go to a jeweller’s, take all the diamonds and go away somewhere. I don’t know, like 50 billion diamonds...
Haha surely you don’t need diamonds though? You’re an international superstar?
Ha yeah I suppose...
Ok well if you could have a swimming pool filled with anything you liked, what would it be?
Well if I had a swimming pool I’d just want to chill out and relax, you know, so I would just get a lilo and lie on it in the sun.
So you’d just have you in it?
Yes exactly.
And maybe a few beautiful women as well..?
Oh well yes definitely, all around me.
Haha ok, well you think that you could give us at The Guestlist Network a little exclusive?
What kind of exclusive?
Something that no-one else knows...do you have a secret or an embarrassing story about something that happened to you?
Yes but I’m not gonna tell you! That stuff needs to stay secret!
Haha ok well how about this then - do you wear boxers or briefs?
