John Digweed/Nick Muir Collaborate With Author John Twelve Hawks on Album 'The Traveler'

Internationally acclaimed producers John Digweed and Nick Muir have recorded an intriguing new album with the bestselling science fiction author John Twelve Hawks.
Released on Bedrock on the 6th of October, this album sees Muir and Digweed’s soundtrack-style electronica combined with Hawks’ narration of passages from the author’s trilogy ‘The Traveler’. The author wrote the trilogy while listening to Digweed’s mix albums and weekly radio show, Transitions. Following a correspondence which spanned a number of years, Digweed and Hawks agreed to work together to bring Hawks’ works to life via a collaborative album featuring the (manipulated) voice of Hawks narrating passages of ‘The Traveler’ trilogy.
Speaking about the origins of this intriguing collaboration, Digweed says: “It all started when a copy of the book The Traveler was sent to me from John Twelve Hawks' publishers with a letter explaining that John had been listening to my Transitions Radio show while writing the book and wanted me to have a copy as a thank you.”
Digweed replied, thanking Hawks, who responded with the message: “I've followed your career over the years and have always wondered if we could create a project together. Contacting you was not a casual action. I know what you've done.”
Digweed and Muir requested a meeting with Hawks to record the author reading passages of his trilogy. Hawks lives his life “off the grid”, hiding behind a secret identity due to his beliefs regarding the intrusiveness of the modern state and digital society. To protect his true identity, Digweed and Muir were instructed to meet with Hawks in complete secrecy. The vocal samples recorded at this secret meeting were then manipulated and added to Digweed/Muir’s electronic soundtrack.
The Traveler is a unique multi-disciplinary experiment which draws the listener into the world of Hawks’ trilogy, as envisioned by two talented producers.
