Copeland to Launch Debut Album at Plastic People
Other | Friday 9th May 2014 | James
London based singer/producer Inga Copeland, most notably recognized in recent years as one half of the experimental duo Hype Williams, is now due to release her debut solo LP entitled ‘Because I’m Worth It’. The boundary pushing creative has been partially collaborating with Werkdiscs boss and much revered producer Actress to form an album that encapsulates her signature, explorative, lo-fi sound whilst clearly making a profound and relevant comment on young life. It’s exciting to see albums with such substance gain some deserved attention and buzz. Actress, who has always had an eye for emerging talent, discovering and encouraging the likes of Disrupt, Zomby, Lukid and Starkey, has been in support of Copeland’s projects from the get-go.
Plastic People is a club that beats for the heart of East End club culture and will make the perfect setting for the unveiling of this interesting new LP. The event will be a chance to see some real, innovative music performance taking place. As well as the forthcoming album, Copeland has a string of ongoing collaborations in the works with the likes of John T. Gast, DVA, The Bug and Martyn, not to mention a web of influences and support, making this debut LP release an exciting fixture for new music in the Capital.
The night of the 21st will see Copeland play her well-awaited launch set and we’ll be lucky enough to see Actress gracing the decks to bring a performance that will certainly be fitting for the occasion. Witnessing an Actress set can often be a very striking and somewhat fascinating experience; his eclectic and ‘afro-futuristic’ sounds of all persuasions are brought together in a way that must be heard to be believed. Joining them for the party will be John T. Gast and Mike Levitt, two artists who are in-turn producing some extremely forward-thinking and captivating music from the city.
For a Wednesday night at Plastic People, it doesn’t get much better than this; a real treat is to be had here for all those who love to have a taste of the new, boundary pushing electronic music that is going on in London. The limited capacity means that tickets will sell FAST so grab them here now to avoid disappointment - http://bit.ly/copeland_actress
