Are McBusted busted?

Other | Wednesday 27th November 2013 | Nicole Breeden

Charlie Simpson who was also a member of Busted before their split in 2005, will not be participating in the merged tour next year. James Bourne, an ex co-member of Simpson said “Charlie was always and still is very set on doing his own thing. He is not ready to do this. He’s got his album that he is working on”.

Despite there being a member missing, Tom Fletcher from McFly said that going on tour and singing songs from both bands altogether is the “most excited we have been for 10 years”. James was so excited, that he checked in two days early for his flight to the press conference announcing the tour.

Some of the public are not so ecstatic however. Student Charlie Green said “It’s not something that overly excites me really. I would prefer it if Charlie was still in it but I wouldn’t buy tickets anyway as I’d rather spend it on something else.”

James added “I really didn’t think that we would ever come back. We never thought that we would ever play any of this music ever again” and it appears that past fans feel that it shouldn’t have. Azeemah Mangera who grew up listening to McFly and Busted stated that “It’s probably the worst idea for them to form a super band. In their time they made some good music but it should stay that way”.

The boys believe that their combined band is unique because there has always been “blurred lines” between them both as their “musical histories are intertwined”. Harry Judd originally from Mcfly, reiterated this point when he said that “people used to take the mick and say that Mcfly are just the same as Busted and actually call us McBusted”.

Although the super group say that their new name reflects the similarities of both bands combined, others feel differently. “McBusted sounds like a burger from Mcdonalds” former fan Peter Georgiou said.

Whilst some think that McBusted are a bust others see the collaboration as a form of nostalgia. A fan from young, Sophia Michael said “I’m happy they’re back and I can’t wait to get tickets. My childhood will be relived”.

Tickets sold out rapidly resulting in more dates being added. For tour dates and ticket purchases visit http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/McBusted-tickets/artist/1936972

The super group will be making their first debut performance together on BBC One’s Children in Need on Friday 15th November. Additionally to the tour, McFly will be releasing their new album in February 2014.
