Lily Allen: New Music

Other | Wednesday 13th November 2013 | Lauren

Lily Allen is back! Long ago, she told the world she was leaving music, but the dark times are over, and we can all stop wearing our black armbands, for she has returned with her scathing, brilliant, funny, feminist song 'Hard Out Here', with the best music video of the year to accompany it. The video starts with her being forced to get liposuction by her fifty-something sutied and booted male manager, and then launches into a tyrade against misogyny, selling sex and inequality.

Pointing out the ridiculousness of Robin Thicke, twerking and the general attitude to women in the music industry, her video is classic Allen, she doesn't care what people think about her. She is outspoken and brave and stands up for what she believes in; which is all quite refreshing with the music industry in the state that it is at the moment.

'We've never had it so good, we're out of the woods, and if you don't detect the sarcasm you've misunderstood'

Have a watch of Lily's music video below, it is utterly brilliant- I've watched it about four times already and I still love it.
