Yo Gotti - Hip-Hop Artist of the Month!

The Memphis-born rapper receives Artist of the Month as his first major label backed album I Am, is scheduled for release on November 19th. Yo Gotti perhaps isn't the household name that some of his peers and frequent collaborators such as 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and T.I are but he has kept his name and music relevant in music circles with a relentless drive and determined business mind. For years he has released mixtapes independently through his label Cocaine Muzik Group, selling out physical copies in many states of Southern America where his name holds tremendous weight as a man from and of the people. His hustle has catapulted him to a level of stardom from which he can profit off of exposure due to collaborations with industry heavyweights such as Busta Rhymes, Nicki Minaj, Akon, Nelly and Sean Kingston. The 'King of the City' of Memphis commands a substantial amount for appearances and performances and has been able to independently fund his career until LA Reid, legendary music executive, offered him and his label a distribution deal through Epic Records. Goes to show that persistence and good entrepreneurial mind can get you far in this faltering music industry. Congratulations to the King.
