Matt Corby is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. Ladies, prepare to melt - I'm talking windswept surfer hair with sparkly, blue eyes and a very hairy chin. In 2007 he was a 16 year old runner-up contestant on Australian Idol. His fourth EP Into the Flame captures his soul-influenced, growling vocals.
It's been out on YouTube for a couple of years and has managed to stack up over 3 million views, "Brother" holds Corby's signature folk style and is achingly beautiful. I don't care if it isn't the newest song on the planet - if you can sing with soulfully strained vocals then your hit will be timeless.
This young folk icon has a tremendous range - his falsetto centrepiece somewhat imitates a wolf cry. I'm a sucker for the minimalist approach with music of real substance - it is time to get hooked on Corby.
