Ahead of the release of Dom Kennedy’s highly anticipated album Get Home Safely, he teamed up with Civil TV to film a documentary that takes us back to his neighbourhood of Leimert Park, LA.
The Cali native speaks of his fond memories growing up in an area that boasted plenty of black owned businesses, and how he went on to create his own brand OPM- Other People’s Money.
Kennedy’s been seen chopping it up with some of the biggest names of the rap game today. He made a cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s Poetic Justice, and developed a relationship with Rick Ross during the recording of Kennedy's previous Yellow album.
Speaking on how Ross was one of the first people who identified with him, he continues: “I’m all in. I’m banging with Rick Ross. If his album comes out I know it’s going to be hard", and “I know that his work ethic is why he’s one of the best that there is today”.

Earlier this week Dom Kennedy released ‘Pleeze’, a collab with fellow Cali native Nipsey Hustle, off his upcoming album.
