WE Love Green: sunshine, soul & sonic satisfaction

Indie | Saturday 24th June 2017 | Trina

What better way to celebrate life, than with a love filled, eco-friendly, green loving music festival, slap bang in the middle of Paris.

Back for its 5th year, the We Love Green Festival, nestled in the beautiful and inspiriting, Bois de Vincennes public park, returned for two days of green-loving fun, with an impressive musical lineup serving as the backdrop. It was time to have some fun!

We rarely get to hear French music, so the French acts dotted in between names such as Solange, Anderson Paak and Action Bronson were a real treat. Seu Jorge performed 'The Life Aquatic' tribute to David Bowie, alongside some amazing electronic music sets from Nicolas Jaar and French duo, Justice.

A Tribe Called Quest were due to mark their European tour debut here, but unfortunately had to cancel. Which is a shame, as this would have given the festival the extra bragging rights it rightly deserved.

If you are travelling from outside of France for a super green festival, you kind of expect more than a standard park space, much like any other. As far as parks go, Bois de Vincennes actually has a lot to offer, but We Love Green was confined to one very flat and basic area.

We look forward to seeing what they can do next year.

What We Love Green does offer, what many other festivals don't, which is an emphasis on environmental consciousness, ecological responsibility and community values.

The camping and the compost toilets, we didn't really get involved with, but the eco-inspired talks, seminars and think tanks and the fantastic food sourced from local produce, made for something special. Coupled with the great weather, the sweet smell of green (of course) and the festival's great ethos, it can only really go from strength to strength.
