Album Of The Month: Where The Heaven Are We- Swim Deep

Indie | Tuesday 27th August 2013 | Ana

Four-piece Birmingham based Swim Deep’s debut album ‘Where The Heaven Are We’ is characterised by the blissful delivery of Austin Williams’ poetic bittersweet lyrics, along with bright synth sounds, heavily backed up guitars, chimes and subtle yet tasteful drum beats.

The single that first brought them to attention last year is the driving ‘King City’, which is a firm favourite. Synths chime in the background, accompanied by enthusiastic ‘ooh ooh’s, as Williams yearns ‘I wanna be everything that I’m not, I wanna be rich, I wanna show off’. The uplifting ‘Honey’ will make you smile and have you singing along with the brilliantly infectious chorus ‘Don’t dream in your sleep, it’s just lazy’. Another stand-out track is the album-closer ‘She Changes The Weather’, which is mature sounding and is led by cooing, love-struck vocals.

All in all, Where The Heaven Are We is a great album full of youthful, dreamy guitar pop, perfect for sound tracking laid-back summer days.
