Belle Ghoul, Patti Smith daughter's new adventure

Indie | Wednesday 21st November 2012 | Laura

Patti Smith has a daughter called Jesse Smith, who is starting a new band with Electric Six’ Christopher Tait, called Belle Ghoul. Their sound is kind of retro indie. Softer than her mum’s. It has also been described as “indie-pop and northern soul journey”. They have already 2 singles to have a first taste, called‘(Out of) the Neighborhood’ and ‘Cold Cold Heart’. They will be released by Elefant and featured on their New Adventures in Pop Collection, a collection they use to support new projects. In this album you will also find other bands such as the punk-pop Teacher Teacher from Spain, and the Hong-Kong & Chicago Edine avec Lisle Mitnik et son orchestra, who play a melancholic pop with sixties roots. All of them are new projects of other group’s musicians.

Belle Ghoul made a statement in their Facebook page just to let you know what they are about:

“We thank you for your time and ask that we may provide a part of the autumn soundtrack to your life. There will be joy, anger, laughter and sadness, as there is with any well-rounded excursion. You might want to dance, but the stories will keep you occupied. You may want to cry but the beat will keep you moving. In the end you may just be standing there listening to music”.

Enjoy!
