Cage The Elephant - Come A Little Closer

Having released two incredibly solid albums to date, Cage The Elephant are a band that have always possessed the potential to be a headline act. Starting small, I reckon with a few headline sets at smaller festivals, the band will eventually end up on something like the Main Stage at Reading and Leeds in the coming years. Providing the band maintain their high standard of releases, Cage The Elephant have the hard groundwork nailed down and a dedicated, global fan base to mirror the astronomic rise of a band like Foals, who achieved a similar fame off of the back of their third album Holy Fire.

Although this caught me by surprise, yesterday the American rockers released the first piece of music from their forthcoming third album Melophobia. To say that this single is 'strong' is an understatement, because in all honesty, it's an absolute belter. With a similar quite verse and heavy chorus structure to the brilliant 'Shake Me Down', 'Come A Little Closer' has the riffs and badass attitude to register with rockers old and young the world over.

The best thing about the band's sound is that, although it doesn't hold back at all in any place, I can see it being played on commercial radio stations and indie radio stations alike, rather than simply appealing to the active music fans about. This is a huge return from the band.
