Bloodhound Gang Anger Russia
Alternative rock group Bloodhound Gang have drawn unfavourable public attention at a recent show in the Ukraine after "evil" bass player Jared Hasselhoff put the Russian Flag down his pants on stage. He also announced "don't tell Putin".
The band were scheduled to play at Russian festival Kubana in Anapa last week, but in light of the stunt, Bloodhound Gang have been banned from playing in the country.
Cultural minister Vladamir Medinsky tweeted "I spoke to the Krasnodar region authorities. Bloodhound Gang are packing their suitcases", he added, "These idiots will not perform in Kuban." The band, who have little social media presence have yet to comment on the subject although Hasselhoff reportedly apologised last Friday at a press conference in Anapa. Hasselhoff explained that it was a tradition for on-stage items to pass through his underwear before being launched into the crowd. He was reportedly questioned by the police on Saturday.
Bloodhound Gang began as a rap group in the early nineties, but have experimented with a variety of different styles and sounds over the years. They are probably best known for the song 'Bad Touch', the video of which featured the band members dressed as monkeys terrorising humans in cages. They have often provoked controversy, penning a song in tribute to a porn star (Dear Chasey Lane) and causing offence with the racial references in 'Yellow Fever' which Geffen refused to release.
Front man Jimmy Pop also caused a stir at the live show last Wednesday stating 'Russia is better than America' and claiming that his country 'sucks like every ex-girlfriend I've ever had'.
As the band were leaving for their plane to Moscow, they were seen off by some pro-Kremlin activist who bid them farewell by pelting them with eggs and tomatoes.
