Folk-pop's young star Ziggy Alberts has quite the reputation

Having already been compared to likes of Jack Johnson and an early Ben Howard, folk meets pop artist, Ziggy Alberts, is more than a talent with a zest for music. At just 24 years old, Alberts has already performed sold out gigs across the world, set up his own record label and reached over 95 million music streams. And of course, his music is pretty great too!
As a self-confessed environmentalist, Alberts new album Laps Around the Sun, which comes out this November, contains tracks about the ongoing problems with the planet, as well as discussions on heart break and moving from one relationship to another.
The songs on the album reflect on so much more than the usual love dynamics we are used to hearing. The Australian has admitted that a lot of the songs are based on an imagined person, giving a more raw and honest feel to his music. On discussing the track 'Yu', he says
“I wrote this wondering how I would reflect, in simple honesty, upon a lifetime with someone I love. Not the pretty imaginings of when you meet a girl once and project all of your ideals upon her, more or less, a stranger - how would you write about the person you spend your life with?”
Ziggy Alberts will be playing London’s Scala on 27th September where you can experience more of his original music and unique voice live. Get tickets here
