Fliptrix 'Inexhale' album launch party

RnB/Hip Hop | Saturday 25th August 2018 | Phil

Camden’s Jazz Cafe, one of London's most iconic venues, provided the intimate backdrop for Fliptrix’s ‘Inexhale’ album launch party 23rd August, a night promising the best in straight up UK beats and rhymes.

Heavyweight UK hip hop artists including High Focus' Dirty Dike and Jam Baxter, Potent Funk’s Sumgii, Cobes & Pierre Green were all in attendance, with Fubar Radio host MysDiggi also swinging by to cop some vibes.

Strange U initiated proceedings with typical professionalism in a set including more recent bangers ‘Terminator Funk’ and ‘Bulletproof Moustache’. King Kashmere’s trademark barrage of tongue-in-cheek lyrics laden with pop / sub culture references and Dr Zygote’s monstrous, all consuming space-age production will be a loss indeed if the talk of them disbanding is to be trusted.

Ramson Badbonez stepped up next, delivering his watertight brand of straight-up raps effortlessly as usual. With fresh material currently under production, Oscar The Slouch’s short yet reassuring tight set ended with a consummate performance of his gritty street saga ‘Whateva Da Weatha’.

Last to bless the mic before the main event was Dabbla. Breaking into ‘Y.O.T.M’, Dead Players, and Problem Child bangers, Frosty supplied beats flawlessly in a set with 'Devil You Know', the Sumgii produced beast ‘F.U.T.D’ and the vibsin’ title track from ‘Death Moves’ LP, set to drop in October on his Potent Funk imprint.

With both the microphone and crowd now all toasty warm, the main set of the night was set to begin.

Fliptrix lit up Jazz Cafe, premiering live renditions of material from his new album, with the opening track to the LP ‘Inhale’ featuring Coops and the rowdy bounce of ‘Catch Banter’ featuring Capo Lee & Jammz injecting pure fire into the set alongside the more mellow joints from the album such as the quintessentially Fliptrix-style joint, ‘It’s Like That’, and ‘Flying’, giving a debut High Focus performance to serene homegrown vocalist, Carmody.

Big Ups out to DJs Jazz T, Frosty, and Molotov who were suitably entrusted to keep the beats rolling on another night celebrating the leaps and bounds that Fliptrix, High Focus as a label, and the UK hip hop scene as a whole, have made in the last decade.

Inexhale’ is the 8th studio produced LP from Fliptrix, the forever ready-to-rap founding father and CEO of High Focus Records.  Cop it straight from the High Focus Records shop here.
