Who The F**k Is Yolo Bear?

Rumours have been circling the web this week concerning the identity of Burial, including a comedic article by The Daily Mash claiming that J.K Rowling recorded two albums under the pseudonym – which surprisingly seems to have been believed by a number of people.
Funnily enough, Burial (South London’s William Bevan) revealed his identity back in February 2008 via his Myspace account, following rumours that either Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) or Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) could be the face behind the alias.
DJ Yolo Bear is now providing the Internet’s latest game of Guess Who. With an unknown age and gender and a location only described as “somewhere between the deepest trenches of the ocean and the furthest reaches of outer space”, Yolo Bear’s anonymity is at its peak.
With record label LuckyMe and RinseFm being the only currently known associations, sourcing the identity of this ambiguous character is proving difficult for everyone.
Éclair Fifi seems to be people’s first guess at who Yolo Bear could be, after including tracks from said artist in her sets and stating on-air that she would “interview him but he doesn’t really have a mouth.” Éclair also posted an image of herself to Twitter of a scarf draped over her head, with the tweet “Found Dj Yolo Bear’s actual scarf, smells of pine nuts mmmmm” and nonchalantly claiming that it was stolen from ‘him’.
The latest news about the mysterious Yolo Bear is simply LuckyMe’s “LMW003” tweet, which may seem like some sort of secret code or something someone’s face wrote while asleep on the keyboard, but is actually a vinyl catalogue number. With LMW001 as the number for Machinedrum’s single ‘Alarmaa’ and LMW002 the number for Baauer’s ‘Dum Dum’ record, it looks like Yolo Bear is the next in line.
Yolo Bear is certainly not the only DJ to keep their identity hidden. Who the hell is Cashmere Cat? Trippy Turtle? DJ Paypal? Will we ever find out?
