PartyNextDoor is an aspiring R’N’B artist, however the advantage that he has over his competitors is that he is the first artist that’s been signed to Drake and 40’s recently established label ‘October’s Very Own’ (OVO) .
Undoubtedly, the 19 year old Canadian singer’s association with Drake will definitely give him the recognition that every new artist craves for. Thanks to Drake, we’re all aware of the talent that comes out of Canada and PartyNextDoor is here to raise the mark that Drake has set by exhibiting his raw talent.
On July 1st PartyNextDoor dropped his debut mixtape ‘PartyNextDoor’, although the singer could have been more creative with the mixtape title, it is fair to say that this is the only criticism for this project. The mixtape consists of 10 tracks which have all been self-produced and written by the Ontario native. Although it can be said that the singer’s vocals sound somewhat similar to Drake’s, he adds a strip of diversity by adding his soft vocals to beats from the newly formed niche Rap sound used by artists like Chief Keef and Lil Durk, creating a contradictory sound which sets him apart from other R’N’B artists. Interestingly, the singer also blends soft vocals in with slower, relaxed beats which all in all makes this an easy listen for both female and male R’N’B lovers. An appearance from Drake on track 10 ‘Over here’ makes this project an overall success and should definitely be on your ‘chill out’ playlist for this summer.
Could PartyNextDoor be the new Drake?
