Spring/Summer 2013 Top Trends

This spring and summer have seen trends from never before. A crop top phenomenon has taken place and it is a crime for girls to not own at least one. The emergence of monochrome has taken over and is being worn by the likes of Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian and the Delevigne sisters.
High street stores Topshop and River Island have especially stocked up on these trends as well as designer stores Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren.
The top 5 s/s trends 2013:
1. Crop tops – Although previously worn for leisure activites, crop tops are now designed to suit any occasion. They can be dressed up with jewellery, a pair of heels and some disco pants or dressed down with a pair of jeans and an oversized cardigan. Either way, you can guarantee seeing at least four people wearing them on a day or evening out.
2. Monochrome - The traditional black and white combination is huge this season. After being seen on the Versace catwalk worn by Cara Delevigne, this simple but sophisticated style has become very popular.
3. Tassels – As festival season approaches, so does the boho clothing. The usual vintage-gypsy look is one that’s on-going, but this season has seen a twist. Tasselled bikinis are being sold everywhere, adding something different to a plain swimsuit or two piece.
4. Midi skirts – After the enormous success of maxi skirts and dresses, midi dresses are the new addition to the family. Sitting below the knee and above the ankle, this new design is classy, cool and has everyone experimenting. Coming in all colours and designs, you’re sure to find a style you love.
5. Print – From tribal print, to swallows and Aztec patterns, printed shorts and oversized t-shirts are a must have in your summer wardrobe. Being versatile they can be styled however you like. Whether it’s a t-shirt to throw on over your bikini or a pair of shorts for a summer party, your wardrobe isn’t complete without a hint of print.
