Exclusive Interview: Bontan
Bontan is one of the most exciting talents rising out of the UK house scene right now, a young star who maintains massive support and someone who can claim to have supported music legend Nile Rodgers on tour, Bontan is definitely someone to watch out for.
I put 10 questions to Bontan in order to discover that little bit more about the lad tipped for musical stardom.
What is the story behind the name ‘Bontan’?
It's a quote out of the film 'Human Traffic'. You will have to find it though!
Define yourself in three words
Excitable. Loyal. Annoying.
Every artist wants to be unique, but what is it that makes you unique?
I think I'm unique because I don't listen to other records and think "I want to make something like that". I just make stuff I would dance to in a club.
Is there a single moment/idea that changed your perspective on life?
Deep! I wouldn't say there was a single moment that's changed my perspective on life. The last few years after touring so much has slowly changed my perspective on life though.
If you were stuck on a desert island with one person who would it be? Why?
Probably my fiancée! She is the only person that could tolerate me.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully still making music and DJing around the world.
What is the one thing that you would change about the world?
I would stick all politicians on that desert island you were talking about earlier.
If you could have created ONE track what would it be?
Chic - Good Times
You play a lot of places, but where is your favourite place to play your tracks?
It's hard to say one place but it's between Liverpool, Manchester & Dublin.
What is your life motto?
Fuck it. What's the worst that can happen?
