Recently described by Wonderland Magazine as "one of the UK's most exciting garage producers”, GhostChant quickly sidesteps any attempt to pigeonhole his sound by dropping this next cut from his genre-defying debut album Sincerity.
GhostChant aka Joe Cornwell is one of the UK's most prominent up-and-coming producers and remixers, creating richly textured ambient and atmospheric soundscapes. He has recently received radio play from Rob Da Bank on BBC Radio1 and Evolution, East Village Radio in New York, BBC 6 Music, KCRW (Los Angeles), and Rinse FM. His excellent live show has saw him opening up for Four Tet in Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival, supporting Gold Panda and Submotion Orchestra, to add to eclectic DJ sets alongside heavyweights Zed Bias, XXXY, Paleman, and the BBC Introducing Stage at Bestival.
'Habituary' provides a more familiar "future garage" vibe, albeit behind GhostChant's characteristically dense clouds of reverb which lend the track a cinematic feel. A sensitive, fragile melody provides a poignant juxtaposition for SpaceGhostPurrp's blunt vocal refrain ("smoking reefer, having sex, she loves getting fucked up"), introducing a slightly sad, regretful undertone to the subject matter.
