Alarms ring and gunshots fire as the originator himself presents a feast of lyrics, productions and flows on Money Over Everyone 2, the sequel to his groundbreaking mixtape Money Over Everyone.
Since the original mixtape was released, P Money has become one of the most sought-after emcees in the UK, establishing himself as a charting act – featuring on ‘Pow 2011’ and Magnetic Man’s ‘Anthemic’ – whilst maintaining his grime credentials through collaborations with the likes of True Tiger, Marco Del Horno and Swerve, released via Virgin Records, Rinse and Black Butter Records.
Money Over Everyone 2 is P Money’s first release on his own Originators label and features a whole host of grime talent. The HeavyTrackers, Splurgeboys, Sir Spyro, Prince Rapid, Footsie and more have taken on production duties, and the Newham Generals, Saf One and the OG’z make emcee appearances.
P Money comes out all guns blazing on the opening ‘Sounds & Gimmicks’, which is a fiery revamp of a grime classic, and the pace doesn’t let up for the remaining 19 tracks. The intense ‘Shotta’ would undoubtedly go off in a rave, as would the explosive ‘Pressurized’, complete with heavy bassline and “give it to me cos I’m one of the stars” hook. The Lewisham MC is capable of more than just bangers though, as he proves with the deep lyricism and emotion on ‘There For You’ and the thought provoking ‘Over & Over’ featuring OGz.
Wrap your eyes and ears around another tape highlight, the deadly 'Banditt Riddem':
Over the course of the tape, P Money takes on the competition, referencing ‘Shutdown’ and ‘German Whip’ to name but a few, asserting himself as a grime heavyweight. Shot through with South London shout-outs, he makes sure you know he’s ruling the roost now. There may be collabs in abundance but P Money, with his witty wordplay and quick-fire bars, is the real star.
Unbelievably P Money has said, “this mixtape is just the beginning, the intro into the album.” If that’s the case, he’s lain down quite the statement of intent.
