Lost Dawn prepare to release their self-titled, self-recorded debut album

Indie | Friday 27th March 2015 | Christina

Falmouth three-piece Lost Dawn - Stanley Duke on vocals and guitar, Benjamin Wood on drums, and Joel McConkey on bass - are part of the same DIY garage-rock scene as The Black Tambourines and The Red Cords, with a sound that mixes 60s-70s rock with indie, blues and psychedelia.

In November 2014, Lost Dawn went from being one of Falmouth’s best-kept secrets to nationwide ones-to-watch. Their debut single ‘Manchild’ and accompanying video premiered on NME and received airplay on Radcliffe and Maconie’s BBC 6 Music show. In the same month, Lost Dawn also toured the UK with The Red Cords and The Black Tambourines, to celebrate the release of all three bands’ visceral live compilation album The Falmouth Sound.

Now Lost Dawn are set to release their self-titled debut album on April 20th. The record encompasses some of the garage-rock elements of the other local bands, but with a more experimental edge and swagger. This coupled with Duke’s vocal style, reminiscent of Jim Morrison, Marc Bolan and Devendra Banhart, and Wood’s mastery of garage production has created what NME refer to as “desert-basked-psych”.

The band will be announcing UK shows in 2015 very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
