Take a trip to electro-funkytown with Thunder & Co.

Thunder & Co. was formed a few years back, when Thunder Factory managers Rodrigo Gomes and Sebastião Teixeira decided to enter a remix contest for The Rapture’s cathartic hit single ‘How Deep Is Your Love’. Their remix was selected among hundreds to go to the final ten. Members from The Rapture and Hot Chip described it as being a “solid, outside the box, funkytown” remix. After this experience, they decided to start collaborating with musicians and make their own songs.

The single ‘O.N.O’, described as a “dreamy synth nudisco groove” by Electronic Rumours blog, reached #2 on Antena 3’s top 30 chart and sparked interest from the NOS discos label. Their debut album, Nociceptor, showcases the band’s view on dance music – that it doesn’t always have to be happy and cheerful. Nociceptors are the sensory neurons which allow us to feel pain. They’re the ones responsible for letting us experience hurt. Most of the ten tracks featured on this album were written under the influence of excited and fully functioning nociceptors, including ‘Apples, the recently released single.

Giving you a false notion of optimism through the lively drums, flowing synths and the “drunk” encouraging crowd of friends on the chorus, ‘Apples’ is a song about the empty phases of life, when you drink and get high for no reason. It’s about the nonsense that sometimes makes us wake up the next day feeling ashamed of ourselves.

Nociceptor is scheduled to drop in May. Keep up with Thunder & Co. on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud
