New Release: Boy and Bear’s ‘Southern Sun’

Seventies –inspired indie-folk has just become more charming with the release of Boy and Bear’s new single ‘Southern Sun’.
The beautifully uncomplicated track ‘Southern Sun’ is the latest creation by Boy and Bear, the newest music released by the band since their debut album Moonfire in 2011. This song is the first to be released of their upcoming album Harlequin Dream, due in September this year. ‘Southern Sun’ is a delightful ballad which involves an eloquently sombre beginning which transitions into the slow strum of the guitar, but by the time of the chorus hits there is a wonderful folk tune with a fastened, but still unhurried tempo. This track is soothing and again Boy and Bear have successfully given its audience a catchy slice of sun with big harmonies and tranquil strumming.
It will be difficult for Boy and Bear to top their last album which won five ARIA Awards in 2011, but if Harlequin Dream continues the theme and sensation of ‘Southern Sun’, then the album will surely be a success.
