Guestlist Recommends: The Leisure Society

Indie | Wednesday 24th April 2013 | Varala

With a live line-up that boasts up to ten members, The Leisure Society makes quite an impact even with their soft sound. Formed in the early 1990s, this English indie band has been perfecting the balance between folk and indie. The group has the textured feel of a Mumford & Sons tune, but gives you the introspective tranquillity of a Bon Iver song.

Their style has gotten more upbeat lately, but in a good way. Their single ‘Fight For Everyone’ off the new album Alone Aboard The Ark creates a more electronic vibe. But ‘The Sober Scent Of Paper’ still has that old-time intimate Leisure Society sound.

For a mellow night of slow-swelling folk rock, get your tickets to see The Leisure Society at Queen Elizabeth Hall on 25th April.
