Chris Dave goes Solo

Chris Dave's been on the sticks for everyone; Thundercat, Kenny Garrett, Adele, Jose James & Robert Glasper to name a few. Yet, a full release of his own has eluded us, till now. The Chris Dave & The Drumhedz mixtape brings 23 of the slickest jams of the year. He gets that tight feel that FlyLo and DJ Shadow can only get with an MPC but in real life, taking you on a crazy journey through beats, and mad sci-fi samples.
Check out this hot track where he teamed up with Yasiin Bey (a.k.a Mos Def) to get an idea of the sick vibes on this record. He's backed by the legendary Pino Palladino on bass throughout, and the lines on this track are second to none:
There are so many highlights on this record, but it works so well as a unit. From the smooth tripped-out vocals from Sy Smith on 'Slim & Juicy', to the utterly outrageous 'Drums & Sexxxxx', (yeah, five x's), it's non-stop from start to finish. If you want to catch him in the UK, he's playing Southport Weekender, and Band on the Wall in May, and hitting Love Supreme Festival with the Robert Glasper Experiment in July.
