Coming to LDN - Rival Sons

Californian rockers Rival Sons have seriously hit it off with the musically inclined public, following the success of last year’s album Head Down. And lucky for Londoners they are to perform at Shepherd's Bush Empire this April.
With the quartet winning the “Breakthrough Artist” award at last year's Classic Rock Awards, they really are on fire at the moment. Head Down is a great big truck-stop-hamburger of a sound, and it’s come as a welcome addition to the new American influences that are making their way across the pond to British ears. Appropriately titled defining track 'Keep On Swinging' was written half-way through laying down the record, with guitarist Scott Holiday describing the process, “it was kind of a little bluesy kind of jam thing, then it got real fuzzy and dirty”. The latter description is characteristic of the band’s sound; it’s gritty without being hard to swallow and hooky without being commercially minded.
