Big Dada | A Label of the Month

Big Dada have stood out amongst the plethora of independent labels this month. The label, born from Ninja Tune is renowned for its underground urban artists including Roots Manuva, Wiley and Dels. Stand out releases have come from two artists making somewhat of a comeback after being off the scene for a while; The Black Salad EP from Dels and Natural featuring Kope from Roots Manuva, off the impending Banana Skank EP.
Amongst other recent releases was a label debut from garage star Sticky, who premiered a new direction of house with ‘Pedal Riddim’. There was also But Fear Itself, the second EP from bass man Dobie, the lead track ‘I-Anomaly’ a throbbing, hard hitting, head nodder.
The label, launched in 1997 by former music journalist Will Ashon, is set to enter 2013 rearing to go with two big releases lined up; the much anticipated Banana Skank EP from Roots Manuva, in January followed closely by We Will Not Harm You, an LP from Dobie in February.
