Guestlist Recommends: NOISIA
Friday 12th October 2012 | Laura
The Dutch trio formed by Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen and Thijs de Vlieger, have become, in less than a decade, the masters of the Drum & Bass scene. From their Groningen studio (Netherlands), Noisa have developed a unique, emotional and visceral sound which has become their footprint and which producers from all areas want for their own projects. Noisia were commissioned to write three tracks for Korn’s album ‘The Path of Totality’ and have written and licensed music to video games including Devil May Cry 5, Wipeout 2048, Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer and SSX Snowboarding. They started releasing material in 2003 under the record labels Blindside and Glasgow-based Nerve Recordings, getting the attention of Moving Shadow, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles and DJ Friction’s Shogun Audio, all lining up for the latest Noisia release. They also have won numerous awards, including being voted Best D&B Act three times at the Beatport Music Awards.
Noisia have set up their own record label, Vision Recordings which produce their own themes and also tracks for other artists such as Foreign Beggars’ ‘Contact’, an incredible bass music/hip hop fusion. They released their debut album ‘Split The Atom’ in 2010, which features a huge range of styles and recently Deadmau5 picked it up for a Special Edition re-release on his own mau5trap label. Deadmau5 highlighted it as his favourite album of the year, and soon they developed a creative relationship that has given birth to the singles ‘Tommy’s Theme’ and ‘Could This Be’ this year alone. You can find them in the best festivals worldwide like Coachella or in their own Noisia Invites events at Amsterdam’s infamous Melkweg and their hometown of Groningen.
