Lee Scratch Perry in Electric Brixton

Reggae | Friday 21st September 2012 | Osh

The legendary reggae singer will be the guest of honor in a night of African rhythms and all mutations of the dub music genre.

Dublime, one of the few dub-based London nights who explore modern electronic music from Jamaican roots, techno and jungle, to the evolving sounds of dubstep, presents the 2nd November Lee Scratch Perry  performing once more in London.

The 76 year old Grammy award-winning reggae and dub artist, also known as "Pipecock Jaxxon" and "The Upsetter", had an important role in the development of reggae and dub music all over the world. He’s also famous for creating The Black Ark studio in 1973. He built the mythical studio at his backyard, at the beginning to produce his own material, and after to produce notable musicians such as Bob Marley & the Wailers, Junior Byles, The Heptones, and Max Romeo.

Lee Scratch will be performing in Dublime’s new home located in Brixton, "a key area for the growth of dub and reggae music back in the 60's and 70's”, accompanied by highly rated musicians such as  Debruit, who combines World music and African rhythms with dub and bass creating unique sounds, and reigning Redbull Culture Clash champions, Channel One Soundsystem. All of them supported by Rootsteady and Jonny Trunk of Trunk Records, who will bring a strange soundtrack of dub and low end strangeness.

Despite his age, Lee Scratch Perry keeps on jamming and releasing new material. Check out his recent collaboration with inventor of ambient house, The Orb, in the album The Orbserver in the Star House, and don’t miss the exceptional event the next 2nd November!
