Music at the Barfly is not extinct!

Indie | Friday 14th September 2012 | Osh

Call Richard Attenborough and fly in Jeff Goldblum as we just found the Last Dinosaurs. Jurrasic Park get ready to party !

For the sake of being so good to our readers we dragged ourselves out last night to Barfly in Camden to see a new band making the musical ground quake.  After wishing our Horlicks fairwell and waving good bye to Matt Baker and Alex Jones we set out for the gig.

Last Dinosaurs are a group of friends from Australia. However these guys are not your usual surfer dudes, as they point out.  A band consisting of two brothers and four excellent hair- cuts these guys own their stage and know what they are doing, even beginning the performance with “Hello, London!” Lovely as it is to be welcomed in such a way, the dingy top bar of a sticky club isn’t exactly a place of such ceremony but last night it was their Wembly and they performed thusly.

A band with a novelty name and not an unattractive band member in site we were expecting to fight our way through crowds of hormonal 14 year olds after one too many Snapps, however the location was packed with 20 something’s dancing the mid -week blues away.  With these boys indie, power pop tunes it’s hard to resist wiggling your bum- and we wiggled ours something silly.

Their music transports you to a summers day dancing on the beach over a BBQ. With a sound not too far away from Two Door Cinema Club blending with some up-beat 90’s Cure, Little Dinosaurs have mixed together some of the best party indie formats to create a sound impossible to sit still too.

After the show it was near on impossible to get to the lead singer Sean Caskey as he was surrounded by female fans, pouting lips and myspace poses. However when we did finally break the crowd we had a little natter regarding our forth-coming interview for Gloucester Underground Festival with the boys. Brief though the chat was pinky promises were made for shots to be drank at our soon to come interview and the guys were as lovely and up-beat as their music.

We advise you see Little Dinosaurs before they blow up on the music scene as we here believe nothing is better than seeing your favourite band cheek too cheek with a sweaty stranger loving life as much as you !
