Crazy Clown Time

David Lynch has once again delivered a disturbing yet mesmerising film for his new self-directed video - ‘Crazy Clown Time’ off of his debut album with the same name.
The video is seven minutes of dis-jointed, hypnotic insanity that, like a horror film, you can’t take your eyes off of. Set in a dark, shadowy garden the characters follow the creepy narrative of Lynch’s absorbingly strange lyrics. Layers of screams and wails are underpinned by a hauntingly monotonous drumbeat that the people rock violently to. Lynch manages to be both equally compelling and fucked up with the shots flicking from the characters weird antics to hazy, hallucinatory images. I think my favourite part may just be when a tattooed punk slowly pours petrol on his Mohawk and sets it on fire whilst a hard American football jock hovers over him rocking to the beat.
