New Releases from STFU Records

Unsub is the hottest new name on STFU records, their first female solo artist has come through with a huge tune juxtaposing a grimy bassline with a summery vibe. Unsub has become a popular fixture in the bass music scene in Australia and New Zealand, always producing something with her own original take. Her roots in Australia and New Zealand are evident with a didgeridoo sound clear in Sunstones, showing she’s not afraid to do things in her own unique way. Unsub lists her influences as everyone from Massive Attack to Led Zeppelin to Burial creating an unusual but extremely catchy beat. The sound of drums and bells throughout the tune have made this a summery, tribal sound still with the dubstep feel that could quite happily be listened to all afternoon whilst sitting on the beach sipping a cold beer. Beat 70, another new artist to STFU has produced a drum ‘n’ bass remix of Sunstones, creating an upbeat, jungle sounding record that still samples the didgeridoo sounds and manages to encapsulate the tribal feel but at a faster pace. Unsub has been featured on radio across the world including the BBC and Ibiza Radio, however, Sunstones could be the breakthrough for her UK career to properly kick off. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for both Unsub and Beat 70 this summer.
