Heathrow insist they WILL cope.

Tuesday 22nd May 2012 | Osh

Recent claims from Heathrow suggest that they will cope perfectly well with the thousands of extra passengers expected to be landing in the capital ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Recent issues with passengers waiting at security for up to three hours due to staff shortages has posed questions about the capability of Heathrow during the busiest period London will have ever seen.

During a briefing in central London today (22 May) officials suggested that there will be no problems caused to Olympic athletes and spectators because of problems with the UK’s borders.

Heathrow are said to have ‘unique operations’ in place and are confident they can combat the sheer volume of air traffic on the August 13th 2012, the busiest day the airport will have ever seen.

August 13th, the day after the closing ceremony for the Olympic Games will be the busiest for travel. The airport is in the process of building a special terminal which should ensure the quick departure of athletes after the olympics. Special media zones and areas that members of the public will be allowed to stand and watch their favourite athletes fly in have also been created.
