The perfect start to 2015, the BBC's Essential Mix kicks off with Eric Prydz X Jeremy Olander.

Kicking off 2015 in style, the BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix started with a bang, courtesy of not one but two of music's greatest masterminds. Following on from being awarded the best Essential Mix in 2013; Eric Prydz alongside label buddy Jeremy Olander were the first in a new series for the show, where two DJ’s/producers will craft mixes together.
Representing the Pryda camp, the Swedes gave the Essential Mix the perfect blend of progressive house and techno, mixed in a magical way that transcends you higher and higher. With both artists being known for their beautifully melodic riffs, immaculate structuring and mixing abilities, their collaboration mix does not disappoint breaking expectations and setting a high standard for the Essential Mix in 2015.
Eric Prydz is one of dance music’s most celebrated DJ’s and producers, managing to smash the underground with his work as 'Pryda' and 'Cirez D', while simultaneously rocking the mainstream with his hits like, ‘Pjanoo’ and ‘Everyday’. Known across the world for his huge EP/IC shows and holding down some of the biggest residencies in places like Las Vegas and Ibiza, Prydz is a DJ very much in demand, bringing us a mix that shows us he certainly isn’t slowing down just yet.
Jeremy Olander is a label signing to Prydz’s Pryda Friends and recently became the first artist, aside from Eric himself, to get a release on the legendary Pryda Records. Being a close friend of Eric, he has clearly learned a lot from him and produces a sound very similar to that of Prydz’s 'Pryda' alias. Olander has represented Pryda Friends on tour across Europe and North America along with label buddy Fehrplay; slowly rising up through the ranks, this Essential Mix is the latest in a number of huge achievements for him.
The Essential Mix brilliantly introduces us into 2015, if the year sounds as good as this then we are definitely all in for a treat!
