Introducing: Psych-pop Explosion Beaty Heart

We first came across Beaty Heart on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury this summer. Their sunny and kaleidoscopic sound managed to kick us out of our hangover and into festival spirit.
Now, moving into the winter, Mixed Blessings is the perfect album to warm you up as the temperature drops. Tracks like 'Seafood' and 'Banana Bread' really stand out for us. They have an undeniably hectic sound. The textured drums lead, with each member of the Peckham-based trio taking it in turn to make some noise. Transient melodies and almost tribal-like percussion also become prominent elements throughout the album, nothing like you've heard from any other band.
At number nine on the album we have 'Lekka Freakout', which takes you on a complete visionary and mind-altering journey of technicolor. The constant loop provides a killer catch, whilst still maintaining the band's unusual but unique African inspired sound.
'Lucky Set' is the last track of Mixed Blessings and probably one of Beaty Heart's most experimental songs on the album. With a repetitive jangling rhythm and psychedelic enthused vocals we can't help but press repeat and dream of their next release. This album is completely hypnotic and not to be overlooked.
Beaty Heart are currently touring in Europe along side modern soul collective Jungle, gracing the likes of Bordeaux, Brussels and Amsterdam. They will be finishing 2014 with a headline date at the Tram and Social on the 19th of December; and get this, the tickets are FREE.
