7 days of funk

RnB/Hip Hop | Wednesday 27th November 2013 | Ian

I am eagerly awaiting this album, from what I’ve seen and heard so far I cannot help but eagerly anticipate this album. The blend between both artists is there, its really what snoop needs after reinventing himself as Snoop Lion last year snoop shows that his ear is still to the “streets” in this project, reaching out to dam funk and even changing his name to “Snoopzilla” as a homage to the legendary “Bootsy Collins” who went by the alias “Bootzilla”.

Real funk legends are the influence behind this style of music that Dam Funk makes, his relentless quest for that “funk” sound of the 70’s and 80’s mixed with todays hip hop influence has given Dam Funk a unique production style. This style was picked up on by the legendry Stones Throw records, which are responsible for many of this generation’s unique underground classics.Snoops G funk style innovated by Dr Dre and the “Chronic album” paying homage to the same era of music as what Dam Funk’s throw back concoction of funk comes from, and equals up to be a inherent blend of musical styles.

The album entitled 7 days of funk is set for release on stones throw records on the 10th of December and I hope its as good as I think its going to be, after hearing songs “Do my thang” and “Fading away” preformed with a live band on the Jimmy Kimmel show. You can also check out Snoop interviewing Dam Funk about their collaboration on Snoops GGN News network online, Stones Throw also released a video promo.
