The phenomenally powerful video for Eminem’s single ‘Rap God’ was released on November 27th. So stop wasting time and go watch it! It’s a feature track on his recently released album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’.
The rap genius has managed to portray the raw gritty street atmosphere with a futuristic modern twist. Of course only Eminem can pull of something so artistic based on Max Headroom. The idea is ideal, as who else can portray a character with an electric based, stuttering, distorted voice other than arguably the most powerful current rapper. Fans of all phases of Eminem can be thrilled with this video as we see so many different forms of his creativity.
Being the supersonic lyrical beast that he is, Eminem’s electrifying video gives the audience the confidence that they can rap along. They may try, but who can keep up with his rapid-fire verses except for Busta Rhymes himself.
As our lives are improved whilst witnessing the intro of ‘Rap God’ we are greeted by a sharply suited Eminem, strategically we hear him uttering the length of the tune in the background ‘6 minutes’. Following Kanye’s ‘I am a God’ Eminem takes a less controversial route by stating; ‘I’m beginning to feel like a Rap God’ whereas Kanye of course is a ‘God’. What a smart move. We can only applaud Eminem as he brings us a colourful performance with flavourful rhymes.
With his superhuman speed and innovative turn into the future of video creativity, Eminem has undoubtedly created a video that demands attention and deserves a hell of a lot more.
