Jittery Start To Leeds Fest As Weather Shuts Down Headline Slot

Leeds festival got off to a jittery start last night after torrential rain left Dance to the Radio Stage headliners Dutch Uncles being forced to cancel the final set of the day. Unlike its counterpart Reading festival, the Yorkshire bash boasts a stage which takes host to many local bands to kick-start the weekend on Thursday night to perform to a crowd of enthusiastic early-birders.
Earlier in the day the arena featured local boys Menace Beach and Black Moth before Sheffield band The Crookes but the party was cut short after the rain lashed down during Hookworms set leaving most of the audience to trudge back to the refuge of their campsite. Festival organisers then decided that the biblical like weather had become to much of a concern and that Dutch Uncles, due to headline the stage, were to cancel their eagerly anticipated show.
The band later tweeted “Words can not describe how gutted we are to have been cancelled tonight @OfficialRandL. Except the word 'gutted' of course...” and then “On a serious note, major thanks to everyone who stuck it out through the biblical weather anyway. We owe you a massive show!”
The Leeds fest faithful are surely not to be too disheartened by the weather for too long however as today sees the official start to the festival as Tribes, Disclosure, Haim, Phoenix, Editors, Spector and many others perform before Biffy Clyro’s headline set on the main stage later tonight.
