Rejjie Snow takes us to hip hop utopia

RnB/Hip Hop | Tuesday 20th March 2018 | Angel

After his enchanting debut album, Dear Annie, Irish artist Rejjie Snow embarked upon his UK tour.

His much-anticipated London show took place at the Roundhouse in Camden, where I saw more baggy track-pants and septum piercings than you would find at an indie festival.

His fusion of delicate synth flavours and hard-hitting verses creates a hypnotic hybrid genre, breaking the mould of typical hip-hop. The humorous interview-style interludes littered across the album directly reflect Rejjie’s own quirky performance style; with the aid of support act and feature artist, Ebenezer, the charisma and energy whipped the crowd into a frenzy from the opening.

The buzz in the atmosphere continued with a pleasantly surprising cover of ‘XO Tour Lif3’ followed by energetic snippets of star track ‘Charlie Brown’ and classic ‘1992’. The brief splurges and leap from song to song kept the audience on their toes until the house lights fell upon a room of awestruck peeps, seemingly upchucked by the hip-hop utopia Rejjie Snow’s performance had immersed them in.
