Ofsted head backs headteacher who tried to ban girls from wearing the hijab

Wednesday 14th February 2018 | Aliyah

The head teacher of St Stephens Primary School in Newham, East London, Neena Lall, attempted to ban girls under the age of 8 from wearing the hijab.

Although the ban failed due to 19,000 protestors signing a petition, Amanda Spielman, Ofsted’s chief inspector, supported the bullshit notion by claiming that head teachers should "have the right to set school uniform policies as they see fit, in order to promote cohesion".

We don’t know where or when a piece of clothing worn for religious purposes ever came into the equation of a 'school uniform' but as far as we are aware, wearing a hijab is like wearing glasses; it’s something that has to be done. Argument over. There’s no room for debate, don’t speak on what you don’t know.

Amanda Spielman

On top of that, Spielman went on to say: “Ofsted inspectors are increasingly brought into contact with those who want to actively pervert the purpose of education. Under the pretext of religious belief, they use educational institutions, legal and illegal, to narrow young people’s horizons, to isolate and segregate, and in the worst cases to indoctrinate impressionable minds with extremist ideology.”

This isn’t the first time Spielman has challenged the hijab. Back in November, she announced that Ofsted inspectors would start to quiz young girls wearing the hijab as the garment, that’s supposed to be worn after puberty, “sexualised” children. Just to make this clear, Spielman said that a scarf, that is used in Islam to protect a girl’s modesty, is sexualising children….

Honestly, we don’t understand what indoctrinated Spielman to think up all of this shit! But in the meantime, at least Spielman and Hall won't be getting their way anytime soon.

Better luck next time!
