50 Cent Explains Delay In Album Release

RnB/Hip Hop | Monday 15th July 2013 | Tobi

It has been a decade since his multiplatinum and chart-topping debut album, Get Rich Or Die Trying was released, but it has also been four years since 50 Cent released a studio album. But the East Coast rapper does not seem to be in rush to drop a follow up to Before I Self Destruct.

In an interview, 50 says he wants the album to be just right and that he doesn’t really need to make money off his forthcoming fifth studio album, already titled Street King Immortal, when it is eventually released.

He also takes shots at his record label, Shady/Interscope, accusing the company for having a high staff turnover, stating that he was going to wait until the label was ready.

He likens himself to a basketball player playing for a team with much lesser players, saying, “I’ve been on a team where I take the ball out and throw myself the alley-hoop and I take the ball out and shoot the three-pointer myself, and I take the ball out and I dunk the ball.”

But 50, real name Curtis Jackson, has been busy in the period between albums, releasing two mixtapes, The Big 10 and 5 (Murder By Numbers) in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
