Greece legalises cannabis!

Other | Tuesday 16th January 2018 | Gassy

After the Czech Republic, Finland, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, Greece is the sixth country in the European Union to legalise the drug for medical purposes.

In fact, it is a well-known fact that cannabis can be prescribed for illnesses such as muscle spasms, chronic pain, PTSD, epilepsy and cancer.

The Prime Minister of Greece, Alexis Tsirpas declared that "From now on, the country is turning its page, as Greece is now included in countries where the delivery of medical cannabis to patients in need is legal."

It is also predicted that the new law will improve the country's economy, as the drug will now be legal. In Canada for example, The Huffington Post estimate that “A legal market for recreational marijuana could give Canada's economy a boost of up to $22.6 billion annually, says a new study from business services firm Deloitte.”

In the meantime, the country still hasn't completely legalised the drug for recreational use; the legalising of cannabis, therefore, does not go far enough as of yet but it is clear that Greece is taking a step in the right direction.
