Joe Innes & The Cavalcade are springing to life this Friday, with their brand new single ‘Little Rabbit’ box fresh and the debut album Foreign Domestic Policy to be released this month, their stunningly poignant and relevant sound tries to encapsulate the mood of the uncertain present we find ourselves in.
The first single taken from the yet to be released album has an irresistible upbeat, summer feel with its brass chorus, skipping beat and laidback lo-fi vocals. Overriding the tune is an interesting injection of trumpets, uplifting the darker lyrics of political turmoil and satire. The accompanying video to ‘Little Rabbit’ is also stocked full of soundbites and short-lived clips of our infamous politicians.
The strong and stable, or as it seems to Joe, weak and wobbly atmosphere the country finds itself in this past year, has coloured the outlook of this album. Joe stressed this point, noting “it's how I feel about where I am as a person, as a husband, and as a citizen of the UK in 2017”.
Thus, was born a track laden with post-Brexit vibes and the unruly tensions of the snap election surging through us all.
The album launch party takes place in London on Friday 26 May (in association with Dice), and will feature Joe and his full nine-piece Cavalcade. You must catch this band who have toured Europe, performed at numerous festivals (Camp Bestival, Secret Garden Party) and finally received plaudits from the Line of Best Fit, Clash Music and BBC Introducing since their beginnings.
Political music with an unexpected, fruity twist, watch Joe Innes & The Cavalcade’s video to get a taste of the sounds to come.
