Saudi Arabian Women No Longer Need Men's Permission To Seek Employment Or Education!

Other | Tuesday 9th May 2017 | David

It's no secret that Saudi Arabia does not have a perfect track record when it comes to women's rights or human rights in general.

Although Saudi women are forced to wear burkas they are also not allowed to drive, and are generally treated as second class citizens.

However, things have started to move in a positive direction as a new policy has ruled that Saudi women no longer need a man's permission to seek healthcare, employment or education. It was previously the case that a male guardian would have had to approve all four.

This new ruling was announced by none other than King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud himself, and while it may only seem like a small step in the right direction for one of the most gender-segregated countries in the world, it's important to remember that all change starts with small steps.
