Crowdfunding Campaign Launched To Plant More Olive Trees Across Palestine

Other | Friday 14th April 2017 | David

The olive tree is the national symbol of Palestine, although many in the area have been destroyed as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict continues to escalate.

Over 21,500 people have been killed in the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian conflict, in which the two nations have been fighting over laying claim to land. Since 1967, no fewer than 2.5 million Palestinian olive trees have been uprooted due to the occupation, which is why the Welfare Association charity have joined forces with he non-profit organisation Taawon to launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to plant 40,000 more.

Not only do the trees provide essential products such as soap, olives, and olive oil, but planting more across the region will also improve the lives of 5000 local farmers whose careers and livelihoods depend on the trees.

The campaign have currently raised an incredible $45,687 against a goal of $30,000. If you want to help make Palestine greener, then you can donate some money on here.
